Jonathan founded Jonathan Peel EU Communications in 2006 with the objective to help and support companies and industry organisations understand the EU using his 27 years of experience of dealing with the European Parliament and Commission.
He also has intensive experience with Westminster/Whitehall, Washington DC and WTO (World Trade Organisation), together with diplomats and industry worldwide.
Jonathan represented the UK Chemical Industries Association (CIA) as Executive Director for EU and UK Institutional Relations from 1989-1997 and also ran the All Party Parliamentary Group, where issues covered the environment and the industry’s licence to operate.
From 1997 to 2006 he served as Director for European and International Policy for the UK Food and Drink Federation, the UK’s largest manufacturing industry, where he dealt with a wide range of issues as well as WTO trade negotiations and disputes, food law reform and Euro/VAT.
Jonathan is a member of the European Economic and Social Committee, representing UK; Group 1 – (employers/industry). He sits on REX (International Relations) and SOC (Social, Employment) Sections, and the EESC Permanent WTO Study Group.
