Rona Macdonald, Government Relations Manager, Oil and Gas UK

Rona Macdonald joined the Oil & Gas UK’s Communications team as Government Relations Manager in April 2004, having previously worked in the oil industry in Aberdeen in the late 1980s.  In her current role Rona also provides the Secretariat for the British Offshore Oil & Gas Industry All Party Parliamentary Group at Westminster and the Oil & Gas Cross Party Group in the Scottish Parliament.

Prior to joining Oil & Gas UK, Rona spent four years as Head of Government Relations with BT working on large public sector IT procurement projects. During her nine years with the RSPCA (the UK’s best known and most respected animal charity) she gained valuable experience in influencing legislation and worked on four animal welfare Bills which reached the Statute book.

In a voluntary capacity, as vice Chairman of the Haemophilia Society (1998-2005) Rona played a key part in the charity’s lobbying success in persuading the UK government to pay financial recompense to haemophiliacs who contracted Hepatitis C through contaminated blood products.
Rona is involved in local politics as well as being an active charity fundraiser - helping to raise thousands of pounds for Cancer research and Care International in recent years.
